We as a society still need Affirmative Action because workplace diversity is desirable and in several firms there is lack of workplace diversity. Affirmative Action will actually make businesses more adaptive. When we take affirmative action we make a commitment to justice and equal treatment for all. When a business takes affirmative action it conveys a belief of justice and this improves the work environment. Affirmative action also provides a reassurance to the underrepresented classes that the company and the society will give them full consideration for opportunities. Affirmative action is taken to give a boost to children and employees who start with a social disadvantage (Glenda Strachan, John Burgess, Anne Sullivan, 2004). This boost improves society by balancing it. For example, children of certain minorities for centuries have been discriminated against. Affirmative action gives them a helping hand to improve their position.
