I am an Italian-American so my cultural characteristics include a love of food, food being equal to the expression of love toward others, dark hair and eyes, and olive skin. The religious aspects of my culture are prevalent among my family members (Catholic) and the language is still alive around me as well. Some of the less apparent cultural characteristics I identify with are the value of hard work, the importance of a family name and upholding that name at all times, and the value of folklore and telling stories of our grandparents in Italy.

Some other Italian aspects that I actually do no embody personally are the old world view of education and its lack of importance and religion. I am not Catholic myself however, the majority of my traditional Italian family are and my parents and I have always place a high importance on education.
