Microsoft has been pursued by anti-trust officials from 1998. The European Union's competitive directorate ordered the company to sell a version of Windows without built in digital Media Player. In addition, Microsoft was ordered to share proprietary technical information with competitors so that they could build software that could communicate better with Microsoft operating systems.
Microsoft was found by William Henry Gates III in 1976, Steve Ballmer joined the company in June 11 1980. They developed the software package TASC, which compiled a BASIC program into Apple machine language. The Disk Operating System brought the company real success. In 1985, Microsoft released its first version of Windows and in 1986 the company launched an IPO. In 1989 it released the Office suit. Even way back in 1993 it was alleged that the knowledge of the operating system was used by Microsoft to make the office suit perform better.
