In Indiana, there are no existing statutes regarding emancipation of a youth that has not yet
reached the age of legal adulthood. However, a juvenile court judge has the discretion to grant
emancipation to a petitioning youth under specific conditions. The youth "wishes to be free from
parental control and protection and no longer requires control and protection; understands the
consequences of being free from parental control and protection; has sufficient money for the child's
