One of the latest trend is risk management is to assess and mitigate funding risks. Funding risk is the risk that the organization does not have funds or cash to complete a project or even run a business. The trend is to assess and try to control funding risk. The business seeks to find ways of mitigating the risk that either its project or business itself may stop function if it runs out of cash. The challenge that this risk poses is that the business or the project may grind to a halt. This is a significant risk. The pro is that if this risk is managed correctly, then completing the project or doing business may become easy. The con of this risk is that managing funding risks can be very costly. Consider this, getting a line of credit from a bank to manage the risk can be very costly (3).
Another trend in risk management is the attempt to manage market risks. Companies that hold investments in the stocks of companies or banks find that their securities cannot be sold in the market for their cost of buying. the challenge is that if the market value goes down, for the company that is holding these shares, it can face liquidity problems.
