They all are professional services that can be offered by certain accounting firms; however, assurance encompasses attestation and auditing. Auditing is the most common service offered by CPAs with a purpose of ensuring company financial statements are in legal and procedural compliance. Assurance examines information to ensure that it is reliable. Attestation is a written document attesting to the written claim of a third party.
