Effects of animal welfare standards on consumers' food choices are something that continues to attract the interest of the consumers, along with additional ethical factors like animal welfare, animal food choices.
This behavior of consumer concern includes those towards three certified animal products: meat, eggs and dairy products. People are now paying closer attention to attitudes and other socioeconomic factors on demand for food produced under animal welfare standards are studied and treatment of farm animals and the identity code of the animal (found in the label). In compliance with animal welfare standards, there is a new interest in this coding and marketing of animal products. People are willing to pay a small premium for those products that show concern for animal welfare.
As consumers become more conscious of food and how it is obtained, they realize that the old methods of tastes, sight, and smell are not the only thing to be concerned with. Nutrition, chemical additives, safety, conveniences, and ethical issues like issues of animal rearing and origin are equally important to consider.
