2. Select a performance appraisal method for the salespeople, Web designer, or Web surfer, and provide reasoning as to why this is the most appropriate method for this position. Along with selecting the method, develop the appraisal form you would use, customized for the position you selected.
You may choose to create your appraisal form in Excel.

Your supervisor has asked you to research ideas on career development activities for its employees that your company can implement. Post your ideas for the top three career development activities that you think your organization and other organizations should provide for their employees. Why are these important? Consider your answers as well as other students' answers. Based on this discussion did you change your ranking? Why or why not?
Submit your original list with a paragraph argument for their inclusion. The final paragraph should detail why you either did or did not change your rankings.
For step #1 you will discuss the top three career development activities that you think your organization and other organizations should provide for their employees. Along with this list, include at minimum a one-paragraph discussion on why these are important (what support can you provide for why these will be effective)? I will look for you to utilize and cite the textbook and/or other research and apply specific concepts to this question.
Step #2 engage in dialogue with others on the DB with 2 or more well developed replies. I posted a DB thread with examples of the types of replies that will qualify. I encourage you to make your posts prior to Sunday so that others have the opportunity to interact with you. That is not required, just highly encouraged so that you can gain the full benefit of the discussion board
Step #3 review the various DB posts and develop a follow-up post which is considered the final step. In that final post you should discuss why you did or did not change your own listing of ideas. For example, do you see other ideas that you feel may be more effective than your original list?

Performance Appraisal

Employees are among the most important resources of the organizations. Performance appraisal is a process of collecting and analyzing the current or past performance of an employee with the help of the performance measures. Performance appraisal focuses on measuring & improving the actual performance and future potential of the employees. It helps in analyzing the achievements of the employees and their contribution for the achievement of organizational goals.

The process of performance appraisal includes setting work standards, analyzing the employees' performance according to those standards and giving feedback for motivating the employees to remove the deficiency to stand appropriate according to the desired performance. There are some reasons for appraising the performance of an employee as it is very helpful for the management of the company to decide on increment, promotion, etc. It provides the knowledge about the employee's work related behavior, strengths, weaknesses and career plans.

I do agree with the opinion of Jennifer about the need to evaluate the workers in a formal manner because formal performance appraisal is an unavoidable part of the organizations (Creating Effective Performance Appraisals, 1999). There are two primary reasons why the formal performance appraisal systems are needed. First, formal performance appraisal system is required for rationalizing the decisions related with employees that are promotion, demotion, increment, termination, transfer, etc. The second reason is that the formal appraisal system assists the organization to maintain the competitive advantage. Using the formal appraisal system, a company can keep the record of the employee's performance and therefore, the company should go with Jennifer's opinion.
