According to the annual China Internet Research Center (iResearch) report, last year 55 million Chinese internet users shopped online for a total of $8.25 billion (including consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer transaction volume, excluding online travel bookings). This represents an increase of $4.3 billion over 2006, and the report projected that online spending will reach $58.5 billion in 2011.

In the first quarter of 2008, China's online shopping transactions amounted to $3.46 billion, which means a 151.8 percent year-over-year increase. The number of online shoppers is expected to hit 75 million at the end of the year.
