Wal-Mart worked hard with its suppliers and tried to understand the cost structure of manufacturers; it made the purchase process transparent and ensured that its suppliers were making the best efforts to reduce their costs. After driving a hard-bargain, Wal-Mart established long term relationships with these suppliers.
