I think that GEs approach to succession management would work for the vast majority of organizations, but not necessarily for all organizations. This is due to the fact that although this approach to succession management is a highly efficient methodology, different organizations have differing internal and external factors that make the succession management more effective if carried out in ways that are adapted to the unique variables of differing organizations. In addition, management in some organizations requires that individuals that will be placed into management positions in the future, would be better served by remaining within a given department or area within the organization, because certain management positions require the individuals have many ...
