There is sometimes a perceived conflict between earning profit and being responsible. What should a company do about adding violent games to their product mix? What impact might this have on the various stakeholders for the company? Why might the perception that profits can't mix with responsibility be false? How does this affect a company's decision whether to sell games with violent content?
This topic has to be considered in light of the news events that have taken place over the last decade. When the CT shooter's home and property were analyzed, video games were found, which had signs of being played heavily. Those video games were cited as being the most violent video games on the market. It has also been discussed that those who have committed other heinous crimes also had a connection with playing very violent video games. Considering this, we then need to determine the accountability of companies that market (and continue to market, post-tragedy), these types of games.
This solution discusses the sale of video games with violent content. A thorough analysis is presented.
