Some popular Fortune 500 team-based organizations are those such as Ford, which has been predicated upon team based tactics such as work teams, consisting of interdependent collections of individual employees who share responsibility for specified outcomes in the organization and shared goals collaborating to design and build new cars, trucks, and SUV's that will benefit the company. One of the most innovative concepts to emerge out of this team-based organization was the creation of the Ford Taurus, which resulted in a resurgence for the company and a $3 billion windfall in profits. After the company lost $1.5 billion in 1980, Ford decided to end the use of isolated groups making one part o a car to pass over to another isolated group and developed a team of 400 engineers, designers, and marketers to work collectively together on a new car concept.
