State Appellate Courts are the part of the judicial system responsible for hearing and reviewing appeals from legal cases that have already been heard in a trial-level or at another lower court ("Appellate Courts", 2012). The Appellate Courts are the courts of appeals which are the highest court in the state. The Appellate Divisions on the Supreme Court, the Appellate Terms of the Supreme Court, and the county courts act as the Appellate Courts in the third and fourth judicial departments.
