Gerapetritis, G. (2015). Affirmative Action Policies and Judicial Review Worldwide. New York: Springer.

According to book reviews, this book provides expert content on affirmative action by thoroughly defining the measures that have been used to award privileges to certain ethnicities that have historically faced prejudice and discrimination resulting in their lack of representation in specific social sectors. I believe this book is flawed because it is placated upon an illogical rationale that promulgates that these groups cannot be placed at the same starting point because of the alleged perpetuation of social gaps and breakdown in social cohesion.

It is basically a book that is anti-liberal in my opinion as it places much emphasis on how there is an alleged interaction of affirmative action with traditional values of liberal state. The book attempts to highlight that the affirmative action goals from a legal and sociological point of view are a pseudotype of liberalism that is an affront to the conventional human rights doctrine by analyzing the ethical standing of affirmative action policies, the public interests involved and their effectiveness towards actual equality. In essence, the book argues that affirmative action as a theology for substantive equality is a failure and actually a policy for liberalism.
