You should say that technical skills are expertise that is needed to perform specific tasks. A manager must have technical skills to know the practical actions required to complete a task. Conceptual skills are essential for managerial effectiveness because they help him understand the importance of every person in the organization and implement ideas. Some conceptual skills that a manager requires are analysis, leadership, communication, creativity, and problem-solving. For example, if the manager cannot clearly communicate and specify what is required he will not succeed in achieving his goals. Interpersonal skills are required by the manager to interact with people and communicate with them(1). These include listening, questioning, and understanding body language. Managerial effectiveness requires good interpersonal skills because it enables the manager to work well in a team or group. Such skills are required to communicate with others in the organization.

You may say that to a great extent the effects of traits and skills are dependent on the situation. The situation includes capabilities of the team members, the importance of the task, the urgency of the situation, and technical skills of the team members. In a situation where the manager is the most knowledgeable person and there is an urgency to complete the task, authoritarian leaders are very effective(2). However, in a situation where the team members are highly skilled and have technical knowledge a participative approach is effective. The effect of traits and skills are dependent on the situation. An effective manager is one who uses skills and traits effectively.
I use participatory skills effectively. I ask for and get input from employees, I give pertinent information, and allow the majority vote to determine the course of action.
