//The paper deals with the in depth analysis of the External and Internal factors affecting British Petroleum. It gives us information about the market presence of the company. Firstly, the paper will give a brief introduction about the organization and its operations.//

Introduction

British Petroleum is one of the leading organizations in the energy sector. The company operates in more than 100 countries and caters to almost 13 million consumers in a single day. The major area of operation of the company is concerned with the refining of petroleum along with their supply in the market place. The organization is also showing a remarkable presence in the emerging sectors such as natural gas and solar energy. There is a list of popular and renowned brands of the company. Aral, Castrol and Arco are the established brands of the company.

BP is regarded as the fourth largest company in the whole world. The explosion in the Deepwater Horizon was responsible for the death of 11 people. The accident took place in April 2010 and has harmed the company's image to a great extent. This has resulted in a huge drop in the stock value of British petroleum. BP lost half of the market share and the image of the organization was also tarnished. The oil spills have caused damage to the fishing industry and the environment too.

In the year 2001, BP was renamed as BP Plc and the tag line said "Beyond Petroleum". This was a result of the merger between BP and Amco. Almost all the stations of Amco in the USA were converted as a part of BP's corporate identity. Currently, BP is one of the world's largest energy supplying organization, supplying its consumers with fuel for daily transportation, energy for heat and light, retail services and petrochemicals products for everyday necessities (BP at a Glance, 2010).

//After this brief introduction about British Petroleum, the paper will analyze the internal and the external factors of the company which have a great influence on the organizations' operations. It gives us information about the market share of the company, focusing upon the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities.//
