Some cultures resent the appropriation of long held traditions and beliefs by cultures that do not share those beliefs. For example, Native Americans will be very up front about how white culture has adopted some of the symbols and practices for social purposes rather than truly believing in their original meaning. We are going to hear more of this as time passes. This is one of the characteristics of the post-modern era: there is no real privilege given to a particular authority. History itself is not a certainty, depending on who wrote it and when. There could be even be legitimate differences of opinion about what have been traditionally held "facts. Explain.
