// In this paper, a number of videos have been studied regarding communication in a group. In order to pursue such an assignment in an effective manner, we should study the video well to take out the underlying meaning. In the first video, the various problems related to diversity and communication style has been discussed.//
The video chosen to discuss the relationship between group member diversity and communication style is the one which is titled "planning a playground". In this video, community residents are meeting for the first time to discuss an issue pertaining to funding of new neighborhood playground. The residents belong to diversified backgrounds. The origins of the residents differ as one member is black; one is Asian, while other three are Whites. All of the residents come from different places (Planning a Playground, 2008). The diversity in the group is mainly due to their backgrounds and origins. The group members' communication style is totally different due to their diversified backgrounds. This can be explained by looking at their way of communication and approach. Some members have already prepared the background notes for the meeting and are assertive. On the contrary, some members have just taken the meeting very casually and are passive towards the whole process. Diversity in this case, is not seen as a hindrance to communication, in this group.
