This is probably the most challenging but also the most exciting sector. As a public accountant, I would work with other highly qualified peers and visit six to eight clients a year, learning their systems and struggles and testing their work. I would travel, meet many people, and learn rapidly. The continuing education also is the highest quality of all the accounting careers, especially at the large public accounting firms. The advancement progresses each year to a new level of responsibility and pay so I would know that I have improving and growing and getting recognized for that.
