I hope you can help me with this problem. I have 2 questions regarding this study.

1) I have heard from my teacher that there is a 7th null hypothesis hidden in the text for this study. The first 6 are presented in the tables. WHAT IS THE 7TH NULL HYPOTHESIS???

They are:

Ho1: Cr 3+and As3+ has no effect on glucose tolerance levels despite oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction; meanA = meanB= meanC
Ho2: As3+ and Cr3+ has no effect on the release of insulin in isolated pancreatic tissue; meanA = meanB= meanC
Ho3: As3+ and Cr3+ will not interfere with mitochondrial respiration (state 3) in vitro isolate of liver tissue; meanA = meanB= meanC
Ho4: As3+ and Cr3+ will not interfere with mitochondrial respiration (state 4) in vitro isolate of liver tissue; meanA = meanB= meanC
Ho5: As3+ and Cr3+ will not interfere with Respiratory Control Ratio (RCR); meanA = meanB= meanC
Ho6: As3+ and Cr3+ will not interfere with Mitochondrial ADP/O consumption ratio; meanA = meanB= meanC

QUESTION 2) WHAT IS THE EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN OF THIS STUDY? Can you explain to me what an experimental design is?

Question 2
<br>Experimental design is a planned interference in the natural order of events by the researcher. He does something more than carefully observe what is occurring. This emphasis on experiment reflects the higher regard generally given to information so derived. There is good rationale for this. Much of the substantial gain in knowledge in all sciences has come from actively manipulating or interfering with the stream of events. There ...

Null hypothesis - Testing

A stock analyst wants to determine whether there is a difference in the mean rate of return for
three types of stock: utility, retail, and banking stocks. The following sample information is
collected.

Rates of Return
Utility Retail Banking
14.3 11.5 15.5
18.1 12 12.7
17.8 11.1 18.2
17.3 11.9 14.7
19.5 11.6 18.1
13.2

a. Using the .05 level of significance, is there a difference in the mean rate of return among the
three types of stock?

b. Suppose the null hypothesis is rejected. Can the analyst conclude there is a difference
between the mean rates of return for the utility and the retail stocks? Explain.
