What inferential statistic would you choose to test the following hypotheses? Briefly explain your answers.

In each of the cases below, an experimenter calculates a function of the inferential statistic. This function has a known distribution if the null hypothesis is true and is sometimes called the "test statistic". The experimenter evaluates the observed value of the test statistic and if it seems to be a typical observation from the known distribution, there is no reason to doubt the null hypothesis. If the test statistic has a value that one is unlikely to see from the known distribution, it is unlikely that the null hypothesis is true and the experimenter would reject it in favor of the alternative.
