1.) Although the media has a strong influence on many aspects of our society's choices, behavior, and decisions, from my observation, parenting skills are learned primarily from one's own childhood experiences (e.g. how you were raised), religion, and social/environmental influences/opportunities.
It is incorrect to say that all parents raise their children the same exact way they were parented; however, parenting skills are often modeled after their personal experiences growing up. For example, if a child is raised by strong authoritative parents, they are likely to enforce strict rules and take on authoritative approach with their own family as adults.
