1. A cyclist and a railway train are approaching each other. The cyclist is moving at 10m/s and the train at 20m/s. the engine driver sounds a warning siren at a frequency of 480 Hz. Calculate the frequency heard by the cyclist (a) before and (b) after the train has passed by. (speed of sound in air = 340m/s).
2. For the equation of plane progressive IR wave travelling through a transparent medium is:
E = 2 x 10-8 sin 2п (1.3 x 107 y - 1.9 x 1015 t)
Find the frequency, wavelength, amplitude and velocity of the wave in the medium.
Wavelength = 4.83 x 10 -7 m
Amplitude = 2 x 10-8 m
C = 1.46 m/s
F=3.02 x 10-7 Hz
