So the question really is will humans survive for the next 7 billion years, or so? First of all, we need to look at how humanity can kill itself off. The United States just celebrated(?) 50 years of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM/nukes). This is definitely proof that we can keep peace with these weapons ... but it is also a way for our undoing. Next, is conventional war ... however, this type of war has been going on since the beginning of humankind ... not a likely end to civilization as we know it.
