    A recent event has caused uproar in demands for law enforcement to be attentive to activities that could lead to terrorism or gang activity. Race has been a source of controversy because of the stereotypes and labels put on individuals from certain races and religious backgrounds.

    Address your position on the controversial issue. Propose 2 strategies for dealing with law enforcement subculture and racial profiling. One strategy is to be from an ethical perspective and the other should be in terms of keeping societal opinion from making significant changes in the functioning of systems and society as a whole.

    My position on the controversial issue of society's demand for the alleviation of terrorism and gang activities, without the reliance on stereotypes and labels in order to combat the situation, is that it is indeed hard to accomplish one of these aspects without the other. I do believe that it is highly unethical for law enforcement to use stereotypes and labels in order to concentrate their efforts in finding the best methodology in which to combat gang activities. It appears that members of society would like law enforcement to be able to combat and eliminate gang activity, without adequately focusing on those groups of individuals who comprise the vast majority of the population that make up gangs.

    I must reiterate that is my position that stereotypes and labels have no place in any aspect of law enforcement, but there are obvious statistical factors that are at play, and must be analyzed and taken into consideration when judging the efforts of law enforcement to combat gang activity.
