Pretrial identification has been very helpful in criminal cases. Several defendants that have been wrongly arrested and convicted have been acquitted on the basis of DNA testing. In several cases police torture or illegitimate interrogation coupled with threats leads to wrongful convictions. So DNA testing is very helpful in such cases.
