The structure shown in Figure Q. 1 (see attached) is a pin-jointed section of a canopy and carries a single load of 4 kN acting at the lower right-hand joint.

Show that the section is stable and, determine the following:
(a) The directions of the support reactions by locating the point of concurrency for the external forces;
(b) The magnitudes of the reactions and the load in each member of the canopy using graphical means;
(c) The nature of the load in each of the canopy members (ie whether a strut or a tie).

(a) The directions of the support reactions by locating the point of concurrency for the external forces;
- On the fixed support (in black), there are 2 joints which are pin-joint. Therefore, for a pin joint, there are two reaction forces, as shown, assuming positive x- and ...

Analysis of Capital Structure Plans

Analyze the following capital structure plans. You will use the EBIT-EPS analysis to evaluate the two plans. One plan is all equity and one has debt and equity.

Plan Plan 1: All Equity Plan 2: Some Debt
Shares of Equity 80,000 50,000
Debt 0 $2,000,000
Cost of debt 0 12%
Interest Expense 0 $240,000
Tax Rate 34% 34%
