If 28 deer are captured from a certain area and tagged and a sample of 45 deer taken after mixing shows 12 are tagged, how many deer are estimated in the entire area?

Assume that there are x deer in the entire area. Then we can set up the following
x/28=45/12
so,
x=(45/12)*28
=(15/4)*28
=15*7
=105
so, we can estimate that there are 105 deer in the entire area.
