"What Went Wrong/Right at OURCO?"

- Do you believe that the team approach will improve the quality of work life for the employees of OEM? Will turnover decrease?
Although it is unclear why turnover occurred (unless it was related to the temporary back-orders and 24/7 operation) I believe the team approach will, in fact improve quality of work life for OEM employees. However, it seems that team success depends on management's allocation of a "skills required" model, where each team should have an equal mix of three job classifications required to perform all tasks. Turnover is likely to decrease with improved strategy; however, it may not if other factors are involved.

- What work structure benefits will OURCO give up when they move the OEM group to a Self-Directed Work Team and abandon the Serial Work Structure?
