SWOT analysis as a tool in developing a strategic plan

SWOT(T) analysis is an important tool for companies, large and small, when developing a strategic plan. However, there are many companies that do not use this tool; but they do use something similar. And I have found that the larger companies use this tool; where smaller companies are less sophisticated and informal.
