For instance, it is crucial to have product on hand in order to supply customers. Companies need a strategy for managing the resources that go into their product or service so that the supply chain is efficient, delivers quality and value, and is as economical as possible. In the event you are supplying a manufactured product to consumers or retailers you must have all the pieces or ingredients of the product on hand in order to deliver the product at the lowest cost and avoiding rush delivery charges or utilizing special, more costly, delivery methods. Running out of items needed to manufacture products means that the manufacturing process is not as efficient, and must be delayed (Murray).
