I am in favor of the Cerberus/Chrysler merger, the reason is that this merger brings a greater stability and long term focus to Chrysler. Shareholder value can be assessed if we consider $100 invested in Chrysler over one and three year period's and compare the returns generated by different companies and segments. Cerberus has the opportunity for improving the earnings of Chrysler through direct intervention and improve shareholder value to the extent it wants. The shareholder values should take into consideration the rises and fall in the company's share prices, dividends, share buy backs and new share issues. In case of Chrysler, Cerberus is not dependent on the market forces for the increase or the fall in the shares of the company. Cerberus is free to take a short-term, medium-term or a long-term approach to increasing the earnings and dividends of Chrysler.
