The First Amendment of the United States Constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." My business is the news broadcasting business. This Amendment advises me, that my company can broadcast a story for or against the government without any ramifications. By reporting on the war in Iraq and stating that the government made a significant mistake by invading this country and the loss of lives is detrimental to the families as the soldiers are dying for nothing, I am protected in the fact that I will not be arrested, fined or harmed for stating these facts during a news broadcast.
