The internal publics were the management, the employees and the workers that were trying to contain the oil spill. The external publics were the shareholder, the competitors, the public at large, and the citizens of the area where the oil spill occurred. Every country where Exxon operated and dealt with included the external publics. The external publics also included the government and government agencies. The external publics are reached through new media.
The message could have been communicated more efficiently, if chairman Rawl had flown in to Prince William Sound and had visited the site of the disaster. Further he should have shown more concern about the disaster, the animals that suffered, and the people that lived in that area. Further, Exxon would have been more effective if its media center had been established in New ...
