Enron Corporation was an American energy company, which was world's largest leading electricity, natural gas, and pulp and paper company based in Houston, Texas. The company, till it became bankrupt, was originally involved in carrying and distributing electricity and natural gas all over the United States. The company has dropped biggest fraud scandal in the US history. The scandal took place because of the poor decisions taken by the mangers of the company. The number of employees that were employed in the company till 2000 were approximately 22,000 and in 2008, the number of employees was nil (Enron Creditors Recovery Corp, 2007). Fortune named the company as America's most innovative company for six consecutive years earning revenue of $ 101 billion in the year 2000.

At the end of 2001, the financial report revealed that the condition of the company was not sustainable and it was creatively planning accounting frauds, which were termed as Enron scandal. From then, Enron has become a symbol of accounting corporate fraud and corruption. In the year 2001, the company filed bankruptcy protection in southern district that was based in United States. The firm selected Weil, Gotshal and Manges as its bankruptcy counsel. The business emerged from bankruptcy in the year 2004. Later in the year 2007, Enron changed its name to Enron Creditors recovery Corporation (Manlove, 2009). The main objective of the company was to liquidate its remaining assets. From 2007, the company operated itself under the name of Enron Corporation.
