There are various steps in the strategic planning, which assist the Healthcare Organization to cope up with the contingent factors existed in the dynamic environment. These are as follows:
Ø Preparation of Planning Team: This is the first step of Strategic Plan, which plays a critical role in the success or failure of the business strategy of the healthcare organization. To go for strategic plan, it is essential for the healthcare organization to prepare a planning team for the development of an effective and promising plan. For this, the organization should first identify the roles & responsibilities for the planning team. After the identification of appropriate roles& responsibilities, there is a need to allocate the resources effectively in order to ensure the alignment of all the projected activities.
Ø Articulation of Guiding Principles: Guiding Principles are the mission, values and vision for the Healthcare Organization. The Mission of Healthcare Organization is to improve the health of the patients. The Values of the Healthcare Organization are the honesty, integrity and fairness in the service system. The Vision of the Organization is to become a committed organization, which will provide outstanding healthcare services to the people. After this, the organization should formulate some goals and objectives such as to improve the image of the organization, to improve the fiscal stewardship, to improve the customer, to increase patient access and to strengthen the research (Communication strategy, 2008).
Ø Access the Current Situation: This step is an important step of Strategic Plan. It involves the analysis of the internal as well as external environmental factors like strength, weakness, opportunity and threat (Kinsella, 2008).
