In quantitative studies, researchers use different types of data based on their ability for use in measurement. The nominal data is things that can only be named. They specify categories. They have something in common with other data categories, but they cannot be measured beyond this. Male/female is an example. A Canadian is not a percentage, amount, or able to be ordered.
