Design of Experiments is used in controlled experiments. Design of Experiments is used when there is variation present. This variation may be under the control of the experimenter or not. The researcher in case of Design of Experiments is interested in the effect of some process or intervention. In Design of Experiments, the intervention is the independent variable and it affects the dependent variable. Design of Experiments is planning, conducting, analyzing and interpreting controlled tests to evaluate the factors that control the value of a parameter or group of parameters.
