You have just been hired as a managerial accountant. You are responsible for variance analysis for direct materials required in the manufacturing of polo mallets. An old college friend called and asked you to lunch. You raced out the door before finishing the cost analysis for Mach. While you were gone, a janitor accidentally threw away your cost analysis sheet. You do remember, however, that each mallet requires 2 feet of wood with a standard cost of $ 4.00 per foot and that there were 4,000 mallets completed during March. In addition, you remember that the materials price variance was
$820 favorable, and the total materials variance was $ 20 favorable.

a) Calculate the materials quantity variance.
b) Calculate the actual price paid per foot of wood.
