If you are asking for an opinion, then I think the U.S. Federal Reserve has done as well as they could to protect prices and price stability. Other factors, recession, capitalism, and opening of world markets would seem to be more to blame than the Reserve. For the last thirty years they have managed to control inflation when other countries and regions were experiencing high inflation rates and making a mess of the economies.
