The article is related to organizational conflict management (Rahim. A, 2002) . It discusses how diagnosis of the conflict is done at different levels and the styles used to handle these conflicts. There are three types of interventions suggested by the author. The suggestions are maintaining a moderate amount of substantive conflict in non-routine tasks, reducing conflict in non-routine tasks at all levels, and enabling organizational members to select and use the right styles of handling conflict. According to the author, intervention is required if there is too much affective conflict, too much substantive conflict for routine tasks, or too little or too much substantive conflict for non-routine tasks. The article suggests two types of interventions namely process and structural. The article concludes that conflict should not necessarily be reduced, suppressed, or eliminated. Instead it must be managed to increase organizational learning and effectiveness. The article describes some methods of diagnosing conflict from literature and suggests ways in which the conflicts should be addressed (Rahim. A, 2002).
