3. A dog must go through one of 3 doors A, B, or C, to get to his food. If the probability of going through B is twice the probability of going through C, and the probability of going through A is three times the probability of going through B, what is the probability the dog will go through door B? 1. A survey of 120 people found that 20 of them use shampoos A and C, 10 use A and B but not C, 15 use all three, 30 use only C, 35 use B but not C, 25 use B and C, and 10 use none of the three. What percentage of the people surveyed use only A. (Hint: fill in Venn diagram from the inside out - from the intersection of all three.)
a. 10 b. 15 c. 20 d. 25

Work the solution in the following order, from inside out.
The numbers of people in the following categories are:
A and B and C = 15 (given)
A and B and C' = 10 (given)
B and C and A' = 25 - 15 = 10
A and C and B' = 20 - 15 = 5
Only B = 35 - 10 = 25
Only C = 30 (given)
A' and B' and C' = 10 (given)

Only A = 120 - 15 - 10 - 10 - 5 - 25 - 30 - 10 = 25

2. A pair of dice is rolled. What is the probability the numbers on the two dice differ by 2 (either +2 or -2)?
a. 6/36 b. 8/36 c. 9/36 d. 10/36

Total number of ways to roll 2 dice = 6*6 = 36
The pairs are (1, 3), (2, ...

  • "GREAT JOB!!!"
  • "Hello, thank you for your answer for my probability question. However, I think you interpreted the second and third question differently than was meant, as the assumption still stands that a person still independently ranks the n options first. The probability I am after is the probability that this independently determined ranking then is equal to one of the p fixed rankings. Similarly for the third question, where the x people choose their ranking independently, and then I want the probability that for x people this is equal to one particular ranking. I was wondering if you could help me with this. "

Measures of Central Tendency

This quiz evaluates the students understanding of the measures of central tendency seen in statistics. This quiz is specifically designed to incorporate the measures of central tendency as they relate to psychological research.

Measures of Central Tendency

Tests knowledge of the three main measures of central tendency, including some simple calculation questions.

Know Your Statistical Concepts

Each question is a choice-summary multiple choice question that presents you with a statistical concept and then 4 numbered statements. You must decide which (if any) of the numbered statements is/are true as they relate to the statistical concept.
