Critical & Creative Thought

Critical thinking questions assumptions. It looks at positions and ideas in a particular knowledge claim or judgement and does not take the claim for what it - it evaluates the claim for the purpose of ascertaining truth and validity. Creative thinking is all about creating unique ideas - a way of expressing into utilization or application knowledge and skills gained via experience and interpreting it to solve issues, to share positions and feelings. Critical thinkers, they say are a lot like scientists and creative thinkers are alot like artists. The two are said to be opposite poles. I believe that a person can both be critical and creative. I was in a situation recently that required me to do both. I was supposed to set up a birthday party for my better half but I realized that our budget wouldn't cut it. While family, friends and colleagues said that I can just max out my credit card to pay for the party venue, catering and entertainment and then pay for that cost for a period of time - I realized upon critical study of the summation of costs that paying for the cost of such a party will require an actual 24% APR above what the card providers promised at 11%. This means that the cost of the party - around $5,000 would actually be around $8,000 if paid for in a period of 18 months. This means a huge monthly payment to the credit providers which will severely dent our monthly budget. I decided therefore to be creative. I therefore asked around for a suitably cheaper venue and I found an organic-farm that had a small café but a huge garden. Renting the garden and café would only cost me $400 dollars for a whole day.

For catering, instead of going to the restaurant I contacted the supplier of gourmet foods to restaurants which directly cut out the middlemen. I ordered salads and starters for 50 which came to the around $5 per person. Next, I enlisted the ...
