Hirschi's original version of social control looked at parents as the major control mechanism in ensuring that kids do not commit crime. When we look at patterns of criminal behavior, we can see through various studies that when children are exposed from a young age to patterns of criminal behavior, the children are more likely to find the behavior acceptable, and to mimic the behavior.
