In the move "The Conspirator", the primary actor was the first woman to be hanged in the United States under order of the law. More importantly was the fact that she was convicted using a military tribunal instead of a trial by jury despite the fact that she was an American citizen who was not in the armed forces. This fact is in violation of the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This Amendment mandates that no person who is a citizen of the United States shall be deprived of liberty or due process when attempting to be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on presentment or indictment of a grand jury aside from cases tried in military tribunals where the case arises in the land or naval forces when the person is in active military serving in time of war or public danger.
