The choice of data analysis tools may make the difference between finding equivocal results or significant results. A model system for evaluating pulmonary function changes with chest wall paralysis was evaluated in two different studies, one assuming a normal distribution of results, the other using linear regression of multiple dependent variables on two independent variables. The results of the studies are discussed.

The appropriate evaluation of data is a question that every researcher, when planning a project, must address as I suspect you're aware.
