Communication failures that I have witnessed in organizational change efforts are that there was a restructuring in the company I worked. The hierarchy was removed and teams were formed. The objectives were to delegate more decision-making authority to the teams but this was not communicated to the employees. There was chaos and confusion and every employee discussed how there will be widespread job losses.
What failure?
The top management failed to communicate to the employees why the restructuring was being done and how it will affect the employees. The communication had failed because nobody disclosed the reason for the restructuring, the communication about the new tests was very fragmented, and everyone suspected there was an ulterior motive. No employee trusted the management.
