Organizational knowledge and effective communication management is a result of different variables that each organization must ensure are addressed to allow their organization to receive the highest possible chance of success. There are distinct types of organizational knowledge that must be successfully managed within the organization, and these include synoptic, cultural, and improvisational types of knowledge that will impact how knowledge is interpreted, disbursed, and translated throughout the organization. These organizational variables are responsible for determining how an organization develops their organizational culture, which is responsible for guiding employee behavior within the organization.
In reference to defining knowledge management, there are many different definitions for the term, but it's important to recognize that knowledge in and within itself is useless if not able to be recognized by the pertinent actors within the organization. Therefore, knowledge management represents the ability of organizations to ensure that interactions and information within the organization are recognized by employees and is transferrable into actionable acts by employees to carry out the mission and vision of the organization. Organizations' must be capable of implementing synoptic knowledge in which they are responsible for cultivating an organizational environment that is conducive to diverse cultures who must form an organizational commitment that identifies with the organizational goals and objectives of the organization to allow the organization to prosper and grow.
