These can be one printout if you add your answers directly to the SPSS output. In any case, be sure the answers are clearly numbered and linked to the questions.

** WARNING ** In some versions of SPSS, printing directly from the draft mode output doesn't work well, especially for stuff that you added to the file. Check that it printed correctly. If not, call it up in Word and print from there.

Enter the following dataset into SPSS. Create numeric codes for the nominal variables, then use "values" to show the meaning of the numbers:

1. Check your data entry by getting descriptive statistics on all of the above variables. What is the mean age for the whole group? What is the SD for weight? (2 points for the analysis, 0.5 each for the two values requested).

2. Test whether joggers are more likely than non-joggers to take vitamins: In other words, get a cross-tabulation of the two variables, request row and column percentages, and click on the "statistics" tab to request "chi-square". (3 points for the stem. 2 points for part a, 2 points for b  7 in total)

a. What specific percentages from the table best answer the question as posed? What do they show?

b. Which two-tailed p-value from the chi-square table would you report? What does it show? Why did you pick that p-value?

3. Obtain a table showing mean, SD, and median age and weight for the joggers and non-joggers. You don't have to do a statistical test, just get the statistics requested. Briefly interpret the results. (3 points).
